Shermar is a former pupil of The Charter School North Dulwich. He read Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at the University of Oxford, where he served as one of the Presidents of the Students' Union and chaired its Board of Trustees. Shermar now works in Parliament for Miatta Fahnbulleh, MP for Peckham and Energy Secretary. He has a strong interest in the role education plays in social mobility and preparing young people for later life, bringing experience of governance and public policy to the role.
