U13 Charter Girls are 2013 Inner London Lady Taverners’ Winners!

U13 Charter Girls are 2013 Inner London Lady Taverners’ Cricket Champions

Our U13 Girls cricket team won the 2013 U13 indoor girls Lady Taverners competition held at the Ken Barrington Cricket Centre in the Kia Oval.   The team won each of their three group matches convincingly.  The final was The Charter School vs St Martins in the Fields, our main rival in Cricket competitions.  Our girls were set a run chase of 44 and reached 46 with 1 and a half overs to spare!   This competition is run by Surrey Cricket Club and is attended by a number of London schools.  Our girls came second last year to St Martins and have spent a lot of time refining their skills in order to take the 2013 title.

This means that they now progress to the national finals in March.

“This result is particularly pleasing”, commented Ms Chalcraft, Director of Sport at The Charter School, “as these girls are part of the cricket academy sponsored by the MCC Foundation which has been running at The Charter School since October.  Coaches sponsored by the MCC Foundation  have been running coaching sessions after school on Fridays and is fantastic to celebrate success so early on in the programme.”

The team was Roxanne Lacheze-Beer (captain), Eva Blair, Ffion Staniland, Beth Haley, Lavinia Mckelvie, Poppy Galouzis,  Lucy Abbott and Vita Love.
