Quiz Night helps to #LightUpCharter

Over 200 parents gathered to pit their wits against each other in the annual Charter School Quiz Night on Friday 23 March.

Our quiz master for the night, comedian and actor Alan Davies, took 25 teams through seven rounds of fiendish brain teasers to see who would be crowned this year's champions. Once all the final scores were added up, teachers were once again beaten into second place by parents. Quiz supremos, Charter Analytica, won by the narrowest of margins - half a point!

The biggest success of the evening was the raising of over £4,700 for The Friends of The Charter School. Of this, over £800 came from the 'Illuminati' bucket rattle in aid of the #LightUpCharter campaign. This will be added to the JustGiving totals meaning that we are now 80% of the way towards the target for the campaign. If you would like to contribute and help us to hit the £5000 target, please donate online here:

£5,000 invested in LED lighting saves the school up to £2,000 a year, or £30,000 over the lifetime of the bulbs.  So every £10 donated could save the school £60!   Also, every £37 donated will offset one whole tonne of CO2 (energy used by the average UK household emits around 4 tonnes of CO2 a year).

The remainder of the money raised on the night will go towards supporting a variety of extracurricular activities at school which we will update you on next term.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make the evening such a success.
