The Charter School

North Dulwich

Art

During Year 7, pupils learn to draw and paint from imagination and observation using a range of personal belongings and other objects, people and places as starting points. They also develop skills using collage, mixed-media, sewing, 3D sculpture and print. Each project will enable students to build on and improve their practical and critical study skills and to extend their knowledge and experience of materials, processes and practices.

Pupils examine Art and Design in the contemporary world and from different times and cultures. They are given opportunities to use visual language and to communicate their own ideas, feelings and meanings creatively. All pupils keep a sketchbook throughout the year.

We also offer a range of different art clubs throughout the year to extend your learning and creativity outside of the classroom We encourage all students to get involved in whole school art activities, such as the annual Big draw celebration, as well as supporting the designing and building of school props for the whole-school production with the Drama department.
