Mathematics is a deeply interconnected and powerful subject that pupils at The Charter School North Dulwich study in depth throughout Year 7. Pupils use the fluency and reasoning they built in number and proportion during primary school and generalise some of these ideas as they explore algebra. Our learning scheme has been carefully sequenced so the topics learnt are interconnected and students can build their reasoning in several areas of Mathematics at once. One of the key features of our Year 7 curriculum is its emphasis on problem solving in all strands of Mathematics: Algebra, Number, Ratio and Proportion, Statistics and Probability, and Geometry. A particular emphasis is placed on algebraic techniques, as algebra underpins much of the Mathematics learned in secondary school.
