Year 13 at The Charter School North Dulwich in South East London are today celebrating a set of outstanding A level and BTEC results. We are exceptionally proud of all our students, and the effort and perseverance they have shown over the past two years in completing their A Levels. 

• 49% of all A level grades achieved were A*/A, up from 44% in 2019 (the last year that summer exams were taken before the pandemic)
• The number of A*-B grades awarded increased to 80%, up from 72% in 2019  
• 65% of students achieved at least one A grade or equivalent, with over 28% of students gaining an A* or A in each of their subjects 
• 40% of students achieved at least AAB or higher 
• 34% of BTEC grades were Distinction or Distinction* with 80% of students achieving a Merit or higher. 

Over 80% of students who applied to university will progress to their first choice establishment, including nine students who have secured places at Oxford and Cambridge. In addition, a further nine students were successful in securing places their first choice art foundation courses at highly competitive establishments.  

Of those students offered a place at university,78% were successful in being placed at prestigious Russell Group or 1994 Group universities. 

It was also another strong performance this year in BTEC Level 3 courses, with 78% of students taking the Sports BTEC gaining a Distinction or Merit grade, 60% gaining a Distinction or Merit in the Digital Games Production BTEC and 94% gaining a Distinction or Merit in Business BTEC.34% of all BTEC grades were Distinction* or Distinction. 

The Charter School North Dulwich is an inclusive, state funded secondary school, recognised as one of the top schools in the country for achievement in sixth form.

Headteacher, Mark Pain said today:  

 “Our students have been incredibly focused, and their resilience and work ethic during these past two years is evidenced in these fantastic results despite them having never previously sat any public examinations due to the pandemic.  

I am incredibly proud of what they have achieved. The hard work and commitment of the students, teaching staff and the pastoral team, in particular the work of our Head of Sixth Form, Ms. Fletcher and the wider sixth form team, has been inspirational.” 

Our wonderful students are now leaving us for a range of exciting courses, including Holli Dizdarevic who will be studying Psychology at Warwick, Theo Hodgson Cru who will be studying Accounting and Finance at London Southbank University, Abdul Shattar who will be studying English and Creative Writing at Royal Holloway and Olivia Morgan Murray who will be studying Psychological and Behavioural Science at LSE. 

Ben Snowdon is heading to Oxford to study Engineering and a further seven students have secured places at the University of Cambridge. These are Lola Choo Antopolski (Psychological and Behavioural Sciences), Frieda Dickson (English), Ella Fleming (History and Politics),Archie Harper (Asian and Middle Eastern Studies), Madeleine Pritchard (History of Art) and Rhys Webb (Geography). 

In addition, Abiir Mukhtar will be studying Dentistry at Bristol. 

Special mentions also go out to the following students who have all made outstanding progress during their time with us: Poppy Monaghan who will be studying Social Policy, Sociology and Crime at Leeds, Frank Foxwell who is going on to study Criminology at Lancaster and Beatrice Carey who will be completing an art foundation course at the Royal Drawing School.
