Our School Day

Our school day consists of five timetabled lessons, tutorial time and regular breaks.

8.15 - 8.30: Arrive for school and move to the appropriate area for line-up
8.30 - 8.40: Line-up and whole school notices for the morning
8.40 - 9.00: Tutor Time/Assembly
9.00 - 10.00: Period 1
10.00 - 11.00: Period 2
11.00 - 11.15: Break Time
11.20 - 12.20: Period 3
12.20 - 13.20: Period 4
13.20 - 14:00: Lunch Time
14:05 - 15:05: Period 5
15.05 - 16.05: Period 6 (Year 11 only) and Extra-Curricular activities/enrichment

They sell all items of branded uniform together with all non-branded items too (although these don't have to be purchased from them if preferred). 

They are open from 9:15am - 5:30pm, Monday to Saturday.  They are also open during the summer holidays including Bank Holiday Monday.

Good quality second hand uniform can be purchased online via the Friends of Charter School North Dulwich uniform shop.

The Sixth Form wear their own clothes but should dress appropriately for school.

Uniform, which should be worn to and from school every day and to Achievement Evenings

Uniform  (Non-gender specific/ should be worn to and from school every day.) 

  • Lanyard (initially this will be provided by the school but if your child loses their lanyard you will need to purchase a new one on ParentPay)
  • The school navy blue ‘V-neck’ jumper* with the Charter logo which must be worn (unless directed otherwise)
  • White polo shirt with our logo*
  • Navy blue formal school trousers worn around the waist (use a belt if required)– no chinos or jeans
  • Formal navy-blue shorts or a formal navy-blue school pleated skirt worn just above the knee
  • Plain black hard leather shoes. No trainers or boots. No canvas/ suede shoes, ‘Vans’, ‘Converse’ of any description, or any other soft trainer-style footwear. Plain black hard leather Kicker shoes are acceptable
  • Plain black coat only – no logos, no denim or leather jackets.  
  • Plain navy blue/ black knee or ankle height socks or plain black or navy-blue tights. No leggings, tracksuit tops or hooded tops are allowed in school
  • Long sleeve tops may not be worn under the polo shirt
  • No jewellery allowed – except for one small stud in the ear and/or nose. No other piercings are allowed
  • Excessive make-up will not be allowed
  • False eyelashes or nail extensions may not be worn.
  • Hair must be of a natural colour.
  • No tattoos of any description.
  • Plain black headbands can be worn. No other headwear is allowed except for religious/ medical reasons.
  • Any neck scarves worn must be plain black

A sanction will be issued to students in breach of our uniform code. Serious uniform breaches could result in removal from lessons

Students who wear incorrect footwear must wear alternative shoes provided by the school for return after school. A school sanction will be issued unless a note from a medical professional allowing short-term wearing of trainers has been provided

The school coat can include built-in reflective elements. Additional safety measures, such as reflective gear, can be worn to and from school, especially during darker winter days (but must not be worn over uniform during the school day)

PE Kit (which needs to be brought to each practical lesson, even if a student is unwell or injured) 

• Plain navy blue or black sport shorts, skirt, skorts or leggings.  

• Navy or black jogging/tracksuit bottoms 

• Light blue Charter PE T-shirt* 

• Navy Charter PE Sweatshirt*

• Non-marking trainers  

• Football boots for lessons on the field 

• Plain navy or black socks 

Students who do not bring correct PE kit will be issued a detention and parents/carers will be notified.  


Equipment – Ready to Learn 

Every student must bring a school bag big enough to carry A4 folders and books every day.  

A student’s school bag must contain:

  • A reading book
  • The school planner
  • Exercise books as required
  • PE kit if required
  • A pencil case containing:
  • 2 x black biros/ pens
  • 2 x pencils
  • 1 x green biro/ pen
  • 1 x 30cm Ruler
  • 1 x calculator
  • 1 x whiteboard pen (wipeable) – initially this will be provided by the school, but if your child loses their whiteboard pen you will need to purchase one from ParentPay.

We would also recommend that students bring in their pencil cases:

  • Coloured pencils, erasers and highlighter pens

NB. Items that do not comply with school uniform or equipment policy may be confiscated and collected by parents/carers from reception at the end of the day after they were confiscated (other than mobile phones, which if seen or heard in school will be confiscated for a period of time as specified in the Positive Behaviour Policy). Please note that students bring items not on the uniform or equipment list into school at their own risk and the school will not be responsible for lost or damaged items.
